Intro to Hand Building
Interested in connecting and grounding yourself through the art of clay? Our Introduction to Hand Building class is the perfect way to orient yourself with the way clay works! In this intro class we will explore the 3 different methods of clay hand building: Pinch, Slab and Coil methods.
Clay Hand building is the most accessible way to begin your journey with clay as it does not require use of the potters wheel! It is a very freeing art form as it is not dependent upon “perfectly symmetrical” cylinders but more so encourages sculptural creativity and the handmade feel. All ages and skill levels are welcome!
Course Overview:
In this course we will learn the building blocks of clay hand building! Each class will begin with a demonstration by our skilled instructor, followed by hands-on help to guide students to execute their creative visions through clay. Each week students will be introduced to a new method of hand building and will be guided through the process of glazing their pieces to bring them to life!
